I think I made this statement in previous posts – a quality required to be a businessman is to be tech-savvy. Jobs were created from using advancements to your advantage. Here are some recent opportunities created by and for those who went, “Hey! I can make money from this”.
App developers
Made available in the age of smartphones and tablets. Agencies are exhilarated to create and run their apps to be sold on respective markets – which in turn, creates an occupation in the back-end department. Think Clash of the Clans. By creating other useful apps for business and pleasure, more and more developers are formed to carry the smartphone technology to its higher potential.
Social Media Liaison
Now, with more than 2 billion active monthly users on Facebook alone, a form of expertise is formed to navigate through the data bank and media trend to ensure the wanted post catches the targeted traffic.
Cloud Service Specialist
The idea of network based computing can be tracked back to the 1960s. Blessed by the technology advancement of 2006, ‘the cloud’ created an opening for Cloud Service Specialists. Eric Schmidt first introduced the term cloud to an industry conference, and today every phone is connected to the cloud and the 24 hours service requires specialists.
Drone Operator
I am really disappointed that this job appeared on the radar only recently. A drone operator basically pilots an unmanned air vehicle to serve certain functions. It is commonly used in cinematography, mapping, agriculture, mining, environmental measuring, fire-fighting. Amazon went a step further with ‘Prime Air’, their delivery drone. Basically, you get paid to play with RC planes. How cool is that?
Bloggers
As a form of social media, bloggers are known to create great content to be shared according to a demographic. A blog would usually feature related stories and articles. Now taking the world by storm, blogging is an attractive job that allows you to set up office anywhere and work within your own hours. ‘Digital Nomads’ seem to be the buzz word now, and for good reason. The money and opportunities are there, especially if you’re someone who likes to write.
Looking back, these are the jobs that seemed impossible in our floppy disc days. As technology advances, more jobs can be found. If a person can make a living by driving for a shared car service, who knows what the technology tide will bring in tomorrow.
My late uncle once said to me – “the best business you can have, is a business you created from listening to the current demand”. I hope this motivates you to keep learning and improving on your future endeavours.
